Paul began working in television as an ice hockey co-commentator in 1980 with London Weekend Television. From there he went on to work with many of the ITV regional networks in England, Scotland and Wales.

A move to BBC gave him several opportunities to cover the British Ice Hockey Championships at Wembley Arena before heading to Sky to work as the lead commentator on both British and World Ice Hockey matches. In 1992 he took his microphone to Eurosport in Paris and became their number one ice hockey commentator covering five Winter Olympic Tournaments and over ten World Ice Hockey Championships.

Paul has also commentated on tennis, basketball and stock car racing.

In between broadcasts he has been known to voice over commercials and is the play by play broadcaster on the Play Station Actua Ice Hockey Game
